Fluctuations and stability of polymerized vesicles
The shape fluctuations and the stability of polymerized vesicles are investigated within the framework of shell theory. The intrinsic curvature of the vesicle leads to an enhanced coupling betwecn bending and stretching modes which acts to suppress the shape fluctuations on large scales. This effect is explicitly calculated for a cylindrical shape of the vesicle. For a cylinder

متن کاملSensitization of ultra-long-range excited-state electron transfer by energy transfer in a polymerized film.
Distance-dependent energy transfer occurs from the Metal-to-Ligand Charge Transfer (MLCT) excited state Ru(bpy)3(2+*) to an anthracene-acrylate derivative (Acr-An) incorporated into the polymer network of a semirigid poly(ethyleneglycol)dimethacrylate monolith. Following excitation, Ru(bpy)3(2+*) to Acr-An triplet energy transfer occurs followed by long-range, Acr-(3)An-Acr-An → Acr-An-Acr-(3)A...
متن کاملThermally-Polymerized Rylene Nanoparticles.
Rylene dyes functionalized with varying numbers of phenyl trifluorovinylether (TFVE) moieties were subjected to a thermal emulsion polymerization to yield shape-persistent, water-soluble chromophore nanoparticles. Perylene and terrylene diimide derivatives containing either two or four phenyl TFVE functional groups were synthesized and subjected to thermal emulsion polymerization in tetraglyme....
متن کاملSelf-avoiding Polymerized Membranes
Recent progresses in the understanding of the scaling behavior of self-avoiding flexible polymerized membranes (tethered manifolds) are reviewed (joint works with B. Duplantier and E. Guitter, and with K. Wiese). They rely on a new general renormalization group approach for a class of models with non-local singular interactions. This approach allows to prove the existence of a ǫ-expansion for t...
